8th Do Over Challenge Reveal

Details, Details
Please add this to the side bar of your blog.

Jeannie (JKD Studio), sends challenge participants a piece of her jewelry for free.  Our challenge is to repurpose the jewelry into something beautiful and amazing.  Each participant receives a bracelet or a necklace.  I asked for 2 pieces to work with.  The participants don't know what they will end up with or even if they will like what they receive. Here are the pieces I received:
One necklace made with peridot chips, silver spiral pendant, and turquoise accent beads, and one bracelet made with red rounds, crystals, and gold seed beads.
The necklace reminds me of spring, but since it is now fall, here are the beads I decided to possibly use in my design or designs.
I didn't get as much done as I had planned to, but here are my "done over" jewelry designs.

  1. I love what you've done with those peridot chips. You picked the perfect beads to go with them and the bracelet and pendant are so very pretty. Beautiful earring too.

    1. Thanks Jeannie. That pendant might require a "redo" due to technical issues. Thanks for hosting the challenge.

  3. I love the transition to fall...even the designs you created should "Autumn" to me! (It is my favorite season of the year.) LOVE what you did with the peridot chips...they are so versatile, and I never realized that before. I see more gemstone chips in my future!

    1. Thank you Donetta. Those chips are not easy to work with. I spent a lot of time just looking for the tiny hole in each piece.

  4. What fun colors you had to work with! The lampwork beads you added to the original beads compliment them perfectly, and love the designs you made. Beautiful work!

  5. Hi Renetha, The lampwork beads that you added to the peridot really added some life to it. Your pieces are beautiful especially the pendant. I also like the gray seed bead that you added to white and red earrings.

  8. Great job of taking a very 'springy' stone and color and updating it for the season. I really like the dangly pendant you have gotten started. Looking forward to seeing what it grows into.

    1. Thank you Shaiha. I have a lot of practice with the chips. I think this is the 3rd challenge I have had to work with them.

  9. I really like how you were able to transform the pieces into more of a fall-feeling. Actually, I think your transformations work well for any season. You make them rise above the look they came to you with and saw what they could be. Beautifully done.

  10. Great use of the peridot chips to light up your designs! That pendent is great - I love dangles! And the red and white earrings can come live in my house, anytime! I do love earrings!

BSBP#8: The Big Reveal

Right to the good stuff..... Made with Rhonda's beaded bead, crystals, and agate rondelles. Made with Rhonda's (she made it) clasp and lampwork focal. Bracelet made with brown rainbow bugle beads supplied by Rhonda. Bracelet is based on a tutorial, Toskana by SeeBead .  I used Czech twins instead of tila or tile beads.  I didn't have enough tile beads so the twins made a wonderful substitution. Soup I started with. Thank you Lori for hosting a wonderful 8th swap and blog hop!  Thank you Rhonda for a most enjoyable soup!  To see other simmering soups and creations visit the BSBP blog for the list of participants (about 500)! 7th Bead Soup Blog Party: 1st Reveal!!!

Here is a pic of my final design for the 7th Bead Soup Blog Party , hosted by Lori Anderson of Pretty Things.  It was a lot of fun, and I still have about 50% of party goer blogs to visit. Last minute additions:  Working with leftover soup!  Bracelet made with gorgeous teal agates.  I love the clasp.  I didn't know it was a clasp until it stuck to some metal chain.  Investigating further, I found it was a magnetic clasp.  How cool is that?  Jayashree sent me a wonderful soup.  Believe it or not, I still have more soup!  Stay tuned for more. Now, what to do with the brass stampings..... Just added a few swarovski pearls and walla!  Dangle earrings! Now it is time for me to show off some of what I made with the bead soup from Jayashree Paramesh, Nchantme . The funny thing is, I am not done yet.  I have soup leftover.  I will post more, if I have time. Don't forget to stop by Jayashree's blog to see what she made with the soup I sent h

One Crayon Color Challenge Reveal!

My favorite color as a child was bittersweet orange.  Sally Russick of The Studio Sublime came up with idea for a blog hop/challenge just using one color (and its various hues) from a basic crayon box. I managed to finish two bracelets and a necklace.  The top bracelet is a right angle weave orange seed beads embellished with 3mm cubes in shades of orange.   The necklace is done with orange cat eye beads, fire opal crystals, adventurine, and ice beads in shades of orange.  The second bracelet is a leather wrapped, copper bangle which used up most of the leftover beads.  This was a lot of fun!
