3rd Annual Challenge of Color Blog Hop Reveal!

My Process:  Waited until the last minute.
Date Started:  29 November 2012
Date Finished:  29 Nov 2012, 1am

The Challenge:

  • Erin Prais-Hintz sent two random and completely different palettes from the curated pool of 40 that Brandi Hussey created inspired by the USGS Earth As Art landsat images.
    • Here are the images I was to chose from:

  • Each participant was asked to choose which palette you would like to use.
    • I chose the top pallet called Parana River Delta.
  • Create an accessory of your choice that evokes the colors and patterns. Any accessory is applicable.  Art beads are encouraged, but are not required.  I was not required to buy anything new, so I used up some of my stash.
    • Due to time constraints, I went went with earrings.  I used the Vintaj Patinas on metal disks and added tiny lampwork rondelles.  Not bad.

  • Mark Your Calendars: Blog Hop on Friday, November 30th. Please share your palette(s) and your creation. Share your design process. Or what inspired you about this process.
    • OMG...So soon!
  • Above all, have fun! This is not meant to stress you out. If you are not having fun, you aren't doing it right. ;-)
    • Here are my ear rings all completed:

Thank you Erin for hosting the challenge/blog hop and Brandi for the inspiration pallets!  Now, don't forget to visit the other participant blogs to see the pallets they chose as well as their designs.

Art Charm Exchange, Auction and Reveal!

Add caption

The Art Charm Exchange hosted by Jennifer Cameron, Glass Addictions.  The purpose of the Art Charm Exchange, other than the opportunity to swap beautiful charms, was to make an extra charm to be auctioned off to...Beads of Courage!  The theme was laughter.  I agonized over this for several days before I buckled down and made the charms above.  I just used beautiful art beads from my collection, crystals, and a shrink art charm.  This was my first foray into art charms.  After I mailed them out to our wonderful hostess, I began to think about other things I could have done.  Oh well, maybe next time.  I cannot remember where all of the art beads came from, but I do know some came from Juli Cannon of Julsbeads, Carolyn Harmon, Miami Valley Lampwork Bead Association, Janel Goolsby/JeraLunaDesigns, and a few artists with Ebay shops.  Thank you Jennifer for introducing me to a fun project and a wonderful charity.

These are the charms I received:

Art Bead Scene: Studio Saturdays

Definitely worth a visit.  Each Saturday ABS has one of their contributors give you a sneak peek into their studio, creative process or inspirations.  ABS also asks a related question of readers and hope they'll leave comments!  As an incentive ABS offers a free prize each week to bribe you to use that keyboard. The following week we choose a random winner.  Who doesn't want to a chance to win something handmade?  On 29 September, the write-up was made by Tari Sasser at Creative Impressions In Clay.  When I went back the following Saturday, there was my name announcing I was the winner of a pair of recycled aluminum can earrings made by Tari!  Be sure to stop by the Art Bead Scene blog for more artist studio sneak peaks and prizes.

Octoberfest Update!

Autumn-Inspired Challenge Update!

In addition to the challenge, there was also a drawing for several bead related prizes.  Guess what?  I won!  How cool is that?  This prize is something I will definitely be using soon.

Toltec Jewels of Jewel School Friends, is hosted an autumn- inspired challenge!

*Create an Autumn Inspired Treat!
*Make a Fall craft.
*Create a cool bead.
*Design Halloween jewelry.
*Design Autumnal jewelry.
*Decorate your home or yard.
*Write a poem, dance or sing.

I decided to made a pair of earrings, specifically mismatched earrings.  I have been hooked on mismatched earrings since Diana’s challenge (Suburban GirlStudio).  Although our family doesn’t celebrate Halloween, someone may want a pair of Halloween earrings designed by me.  It could happen.  The skulls are dyed howlite, lampies by DFJ Lampwork (Ebay) and unfortunately, I don't remember where I got the black lampwork disks for the party hats.  I also used swarovski crystals and czech rondelles.  Here are my October Fest earrings:
