UPDATE: Big Hole Challenge Blog Hop Reveal!!!

I have received my large hole copper component for the Kristi Bowman Design "Big Hole Challenge Blog Hop."  As you can tell, we are challenged with using our large hole component in a design.  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!  I would have posted earlier today, but we have been without power for over 24 hours.  No internet, lights, no phone, no TV, just lots of family time.  But here is the design I came up with.  For this piece I used African jade rondells, jumprings, copper chain, a vintage rhinestone button from a button swap, and a few teal glass seed beads for the fringe.  I learned to use the jumprings with the beads from The Gossiping Goddess' tutorial .  Don't forget to stop by and check out what the other participants came up with for this challenge.  PARTICIPANTS Dragonfly Close Karen Williams Staci Louise Pine Ridge Treasures Jennifer Cameron GeneaBeads Linda Larsen ...

First Attempt--Peyote Tube

I just finished going through all of the beautiful and creative designs of several beaders as part of the "A Time to Stitch" blog hop.  Each participant had the choice to use the herringbone, peyote, or both in their design.  I was blown away at all of different designs and was inspired at the same time.  Here is my first attempt at a peyote tube using size 11 delicas.  | | | \/

A Time To Stitch Challenge!

Theresa of Theresa's Treasures and Christine of  One Kiss Creations have teamed up to bring this challenge to the first 30 beaders.  This challenge is a celebration of Theresa's 1 year blog anniversary!  The challenge requires that a piece be made using a certain beadweaving stitch.  Details are available on Theresa's blog. Here is the bracelet I did for the challenge.  I used lampwork beads by Ansuya Beads (Ebay) and size 8 hex metallic beads using the herringbone stitch.  I had planned on doing something using a flat herringbone stitch, but as usual, time got away from me.  Thank you Theresa and Christine for hosting this challenge.  I look forward to more.  You can see more challenge entries via the links below. Leo Gets an IPad!

There aren't a lot of a lot of toys that you can purchase for an 11 year old with cerebral palsy who doesn't walk, talk, is developmentally delayed, and totally dependent on his family for his care.  However, during one of his P/T visits, his therapist introduced Leo to an IPad as a way to make him focus on using his hands more.  Leo loved it.  So we went out and got him one of his own.  My husband loaded it up with a few apps that whistle, ding and talk when Leo does manage to open them.  He also uploaded pics of the family.  I caught Leo playing with his IPad, but he looked away when he heard the camera beep. My youngest son Leo playing with his Ipad.  He loves to get under furniture!
