Kalmbach Bead Soup Party Entry Completed!

In celebration of Lori Anderson's new Bead Soup book, Kalmbach decided to throw  Bead Soup Party.  Bead shops from all over were asked to donate beads for jewelry designers interested in attending the Bead Soup Party.  Invitations were sent out and the challenge began!  Yeah!

I received bead soup from Safire Beads and Things, Madison, Ohio. This particular bead shop is about a 4 hour drive from my home in Kettering.  Carole Ohl, the owner of the best bead shop ever, STASH, not only sent out beads for party goers, but she also received bead soup from another shop in Ohio.  How cool is that?

Each party goer is supposed to make a necklace from their bead soups.  My bead soup was a mixture of Czech beads in deep reds, browns, golds and greens.  I started by washing the beads off, picking out the icky ingredients, and added ingredients from my own recipe.  I was going to do a bit of bead embroidery using the eagle moon pendant, but I just couldn't place it right, so I went with stringing.


Have I said that I love challenges?  Well I do.

Right to the good stuff..... Made with Rhonda's beaded bead, crystals, and agate rondelles. Made with Rhonda's (she made it) clasp and lampwork focal. Bracelet made with brown rainbow bugle beads supplied by Rhonda. 7th Bead Soup Blog Party: 1st Reveal!!!

Here is a pic of my final design for the 7th Bead Soup Blog Party , hosted by Lori Anderson of Pretty Things.  It was a lot of fun, and I still have about 50% of party goer blogs to visit. Last minute additions:  Working with leftover soup!  Bracelet made with gorgeous teal agates.  I love the clasp.  I didn't know it was a clasp until it stuck to some metal chain.  Investigating further, I found it was a magnetic clasp.  How cool is that?  Jayashree sent me a wonderful soup.  Believe it or not, I still have more soup!  Stay tuned for more. Now, what to do with the brass stampings..... Just added a few swarovski pearls and walla!  Dangle earrings! Now it is time for me to show off some of what I made with the bead soup from Jayashree Paramesh, Nchantme . Problem: Northridge Publishing Company (Bead Trends Magazine)

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I was a long time reader of Bead Trends Magazine .  It was a publication filled with beautiful handmade jewelry and inspiration.  But now the not so beautiful side to Northridge Publishing Company.   Bead Trends last issue was for July.  I don't know about anyone else, but Northridge Publishing Company did not notify me that the magazine would no longer be published. I used my credit card to set up monthly transactions for the magazine. Evidence of Bead Trends disappeared from all social media outlets.  So I went to the website and deleted my credit card information.  Charges continued to show up on my statement for August, September, and October.  If a charge shows up for November....... I contacted Northridge Publishing Company several times via their chat room.  No response.  I sent two emails.  Finally today, I received an email from their customer service. Northridge Publication has a policy of no refunds for subscriptions.
