Kalmbach Bead Soup Party Entry Completed!

In celebration of Lori Anderson's new Bead Soup book, Kalmbach decided to throw  Bead Soup Party.  Bead shops from all over were asked to donate beads for jewelry designers interested in attending the Bead Soup Party.  Invitations were sent out and the challenge began!  Yeah!

I received bead soup from Safire Beads and Things, Madison, Ohio. This particular bead shop is about a 4 hour drive from my home in Kettering.  Carole Ohl, the owner of the best bead shop ever, STASH, not only sent out beads for party goers, but she also received bead soup from another shop in Ohio.  How cool is that?

Each party goer is supposed to make a necklace from their bead soups.  My bead soup was a mixture of Czech beads in deep reds, browns, golds and greens.  I started by washing the beads off, picking out the icky ingredients, and added ingredients from my own recipe.  I was going to do a bit of bead embroidery using the eagle moon pendant, but I just couldn't place it right, so I went with stringing.

Have I said that I love challenges?  Well I do.

  1. I'm with Lori; that pendant is epically awesome!

Love the vivid colors in the necklace you made ^.^

  2. Wonderful, warm tribal feel too this piece - so earthy - love it!

  3. That is such an interesting focal you received! Great job, the piece is so cool!

2019 Bead Peeps Swap & Hop Reveal!

To my Peeps: I think as I get older, sickness lasts longer. Everyone is better now and down to sniffles.  On to the good stuff. My partner for this years' Swap & Hop was Dain Schlegel of Dainty Designs.  However, she is recovering from a surgery and wasn't able to get beads to me.  I hope she gets better soon.  So Linda Anderson set me up with an Angel.  Krafty Max sent me a whole lot of beads. Beads on strings, beads in tubes, stone cabochons, fused glass pendants, and Czech beads, rounds, and crystals. Although, I didn't use all of the beads, I did manage to put together a few pendants and UFOs. The pendant above is one of the stones I worked with. Here are the beads she sent: Here is a pendant made with a few blue and white stones from KM. It's finished, I just need to bead up a rope. This is supposed to be a Mini Mountain Girl bracelet (Regina Payne), and I used to small purple stone beads from KM. Thank you Krafty Max for the bea

BSBP#8: The Big Reveal

Right to the good stuff..... Made with Rhonda's beaded bead, crystals, and agate rondelles. Made with Rhonda's (she made it) clasp and lampwork focal. Bracelet made with brown rainbow bugle beads supplied by Rhonda. Bracelet is based on a tutorial, Toskana by SeeBead .  I used Czech twins instead of tila or tile beads.  I didn't have enough tile beads so the twins made a wonderful substitution. Soup I started with. Thank you Lori for hosting a wonderful 8th swap and blog hop!  Thank you Rhonda for a most enjoyable soup!  To see other simmering soups and creations visit the BSBP blog for the list of participants (about 500)! Art Charm Exchange, Auction and Reveal!

Add caption The Art Charm Exchange hosted by Jennifer Cameron, Glass Addictions .  The purpose of the Art Charm Exchange, other than the opportunity to swap beautiful charms, was to make an extra charm to be auctioned off to... Beads of Courage !  The theme was laughter.  I agonized over this for several days before I buckled down and made the charms above.  I just used beautiful art beads from my collection, crystals, and a shrink art charm.  This was my first foray into art charms.  After I mailed them out to our wonderful hostess, I began to think about other things I could have done.  Oh well, maybe next time.  I cannot remember where all of the art beads came from, but I do know some came from Juli Cannon of Julsbeads , Carolyn Harmon, Miami Valley Lampwork Bead Association , Janel Goolsby/ JeraLunaDesigns , and a few artists with Ebay shops.  Thank you Jennifer for introducing me to a fun project and a wonderful charity. These are the charms I received: List of Parti
