Jeannie K. Dukic sent each participant an old, tried, boring piece of my jewelry for free and you will work your magic and turn it into something beautiful and amazing. The jewelry she sent out for this challenge are designs made when she was new to jewelry-making and won’t sell. Well she could, but she believes no one would buy them. This is NOT jewelry currently listed on her website! There will be no art beads of any kind in what you receive, and it will not be in any fancy packaging when you receive it.
Yeah....no fancy packaging here. |
There is no guarantee that participants will even like the jewelry they receive for this challenge. Remember, this is just a challenge and the goal is to have fun with the jewelry make-over! Here is what I received:
A gold chain with crystals, and gemstones and earrings to match. The owl charm was part of the "nothing fancy" packaging. I can't say that I liked the necklace, but that is because I don't use pastel colors much. I don't have any crystals in my stash to go with those on the necklace/earrings. But that owl charm is hooting at me to be used.
I redid the earrings:
I actually had an art bead, from emmyloubeads, that kind of went with the crystals, and now I have a necklace.
And now for the fun piece!

Thank you Jeannie for hosting the Do Over Challenges, and I am looking forward to the next one.
You've really lifted the piece from pretty, but ordinary to eye-catching. And I love you're whimsy piece even more!
ReplyDeleteThat art bead from Emmylou is beautiful and perfect for this re-make. Good Choice. The earrings would be so fun to wear, swinging around, lookin' all flirty and cool.
ReplyDeleteOk WoW with my owl pendant. Did you make that rope? It's stunning.
Thank you so much for participating and happy to know you will be joining us for the next one.
The challenge was challenging and fun too. I did make the kumihimo rope. I love making them and may use them more in my designs in the future. It seems a lot of folks want to use your package charms for pendants!
DeleteFun remakes! I have been dying to use one of Jeannie's little tags! You did a great job with this.
ReplyDeleteOur earrings have a very similar feel to them.. Ould love to see the necklace hung. I had to use 'glass' crystlas to lengthen my piece as I didn't have any realy crystals the right colour! Not sure what I did with my 'charm' I know I got one...
ReplyDeleteGreat job with your makeover1 Love the creation with the owl!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful beading,
Cheri
I have recently received Jeannie's package for the Echo Club and I was thinking the same about the charm: I could easily incorporated in a jewelry design :)
ReplyDeleteYour do-over is fabulous - I love the tassel on the necklace, and the fun piece is just that: fun and perfectly charming.
I wouldn't have known what do with the pastel crystals, either, but you made it work. Very nice. I also got the same owl charm on my package and it never occurred to me to use it in a necklace. You're very creative. I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteI love the redo earrings and necklaces! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI love the daintyness of the earrings and necklace. The owl necklace is full of color and fun. Great job.
ReplyDeleteI have to say my favorite is your kumihimo rope, I love the colors you used.
ReplyDeleteYour do over stayed true to your wonderful artistic sensibilities. I love that you made something out of the little charm she sent her item in. I dreamed of doing that but you actually did it, Kudos.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun pieces! I really like the pastel necklace & earrings, but my favorite is definitely the owl necklace. Did you enamel the bead yourself? Fantastic job all around!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had so much fun with Jeannie's beads...and I had so much fun seeing what you made! One is very dainty and ladylike, and the other is fun and funky and so COOL!
ReplyDeleteOh, is that kumihimo in the owl necklace? I love the crystal colors with the gold.
